Teddy Bear Hospital (TBH) is a fun project for 3-7 year olds, which uses play to make young children more familiar with healthcare, so they know they donβt need to be scared when they go and visit the Doctor.
Teddy Bear Hospital seeks to construct a positive experience of healthcare for children to develop their trust and confidence towards healthcare workers. We want to show the children that visiting the doctor does not have to feel threatening or frightening. TBH is also a fun way of getting children to think about health.
TBH clinics are run in nurseries, schools and rainbows at least once a week with transport and props provided. Each volunteer runs a station where children learn more about their health and what doctors can do for them. A committee member runs the clinic and helps out.
Volunteering with TBH gives an opportunity to practice communication skills with children. Whether you are interested in career in Paediatrics, think your communication with young people needs some work on or simply like to play with children, joining TBH is the right choice. After only three clinics, you will get one of our lovely Teddy Bear Hospital certificates, which you can add to your portfolio.
Look out for one of our Training events where you will become a qualified Teddy Doctor!
Open to Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Medical Students.
