If you’re interested in medicine and the outdoors this is the ideal society for you!
We run regular teaching sessions and events about Wilderness Medicine. We do teaching sessions on everything from snake bites, to altitude sickness to major trauma. All of our teaching is hands on and practical, with scenarios to put it into practice. We also have lots of medical kit to make the scenarios more realistic.
We run regular trips to the Peak District to enjoy the outdoors, and normally we run a few ‘surprise’ scenarios whilst we’re there. We also run Wilderness Weekend events where we camp or stay in bunkhouses and spend the whole weekend doing wilderness stuff.
A highlight of our year is Wild Trials where we compete against other universities in a series of scenarios, mass casualty incidents and pretend clinics. Scenarios from 2022 included diving incidents, snake bites and hypothermia.
Everyone is welcome at Wilderness Medicine, regardless of experience. It’s a very friendly, relaxed society. For some photos of our recent events, take a look at our social media pages.
